Botanical Garden
Bogor Botanical Garden was initiated by Prof. Dr. Reinwadt, a botanical professor from Germany in 1817. This glorious Botanical Garden with its area 87 Ha was originally opened in 1917 by The Dutch. It has more than 20.000 varieties of tropical flora. The vast park with its rolling lawns, lily ponds and forest groves, and its special orchid nurseries house more than 5000 orchid varieties from Indonesia and abroad and the famous (and rather smelly) Rafflesia arnoldi, the world’s largest flower.

Zoological Museum
Zoological museum was founded in 1894 by the Dutch government, Dr. J.C. Koningsberger. In the early years, the research was focused on insects which were the main pests of agriculture. Now a zoological laboratory as well as a public museum of natural history, it exhibits 650 species of mammals, 1,100 species of birds, 600 species of fish and reptiles, 2,300 species of mollusca, 10,000 species of insects, and other invertebrates. The display includes skeletons of blue whale, the biggest whale in Indonesia. The museum also houses dioramas of animals, a library, and laboratory and research facilities.

Bogor Palace, 28 Ha, was constructed by The Ducth in 1744. In 1834, this building was damaged by the volcanic eruption of Mount Salak.  From 1870 to 1942, Bogor Palace used as the official residence of the governor general of the Dutch East Indies. After Indonesia independence, the palace, with more than 300 white-spotted deers in its yard, has been used by President Soekarno and other Indonesia next presidents. Nowadays, there is public free access for several rooms in this palace. However, there are some requirements which are implied the free access.
